BRACHYTHERAPY – CURE FOR PROSTATE CANCER WITHOUT A SCALPEL
Brachytherapy is a special form of radiotherapy, a modern procedure for treating prostate cancer in which the organ is irradiated practically from the inside out. For this purpose, small, rice grain-sized radioactive platelets, known as seeds, are implanted through the skin into the prostate with a needle and precisely placed there. Doctors therefore refer to this innovative procedure as “seed implantation”. The term “seed” comes from the English language and means “grain”.
